Afterschool Classes FAQ’s

  • Absolutely!

If you’re interested in touring the theater or getting a feel for our program before signing up, we are happy to help! Come for a private tour outside class hours, and/or have your child join us for free day of class!

  • Yes! We will have 3 performances. One in October from our afterschool group, a homeschool group performance in November, and our big fall musical in December with our afterschool groups. All will be available to the public and tickets will go on sale ahead of each event.

  • To keep our kids safe, happy, and focused, please send your child with:

    • A nut-free snack (SunButter is okay!)

    • A water bottle (we have filtered water for refills!)

    • Close-toed shoes for movement and dancing

We are a tree-nut free campus. We have students with severe and life-threatening allergies.

  • Makeup kits are welcome, but not required. The theatre will provide makeup for anyone who doesn’t bring their own.

  • Please call Mrs. Burchfield directly at (512) 798-8674 or email info@burchfieldtheatre.com so we can update our attendance chart and update transportation. If your child has a fever over 100°F, vomiting, diarrhea, or a contagious illness, please keep them home until symptoms have been gone for at least 24 hours.

  • We ask this question on our enrollment forms because it helps us best prepare for each student. If you believe your child may need additional support before classes begin, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can contact Mrs. Burchfield at angela@burchfieldtheatre.com to make accommodations and ensure your child feels safe, supported, and ready to thrive.

  • For recreational theatre programs, yes. However, we strongly encourage full participation in all scheduled performances, since each cast member plays an important part in the ensemble.

If your child is unable to attend one of the shows, please let us know as early as possible so we can plan and cast accordingly.

For Heathers: Teen Edition, attendance at all performance dates is required in order to participate, due to the ensemble-based nature and complexity of the production.

  • Absolutely! We welcome beginners and seasoned performers alike. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where every child feels encouraged to explore all areas of theatre.

  • We are open to discussing exceptions. Please contact Mrs. Burchfield to talk it through. All children must be fully toilet trained.

  • We teach techniques to support memory and stage confidence. We simply ask that each child try their best. However, practicing lines and choreography at home leads to stronger skills and more polished productions!

  • Children grow in memory, music, voice, confidence, creativity, teamwork, coordination, and cultural appreciation—all while having fun and making friends.

  • Yes, we love volunteers!

Email us to let us know how you’d like to get involved. We will add you to our list and contact you when an opportunity becomes available.

  • Please email info@burchfieldtheatre.com. You may also call our main number at (248) 232-7413 and select Lilja at option 1. We’re happy to help.

  • Yes, with notice! Any schedule changes that affect tuition (like adding or removing a day) will only take effect at the start of the next billing cycle, and we require at least 3 weeks’ notice to process the change.

Read our How Payment Works page for more info!

  • We completely understand that auditions can feel intimidating — that’s why ours are low-pressure, supportive, and fun!

Auditions are held in a relaxed group setting, often sitting together around the piano or participating in simple theatre games. Every child is cast in a role, regardless of experience or confidence level. The audition process simply helps us get to know each student’s personality, strengths, and comfort zone so we can place them where they’ll shine.

If your child is especially nervous, just let us know — we’re happy to offer extra encouragement, a buddy to pair with, or skip certain parts if needed. Our goal is always to build confidence, not stress anyone out.

For Heathers: Teen Edition, a more formal audition process will take place. Students should prepare a song and a short monologue to perform during Audition Week (the first week of class).

  • We offer two options for daily arrival and dismissal:

    • Use our parking map (provided in the parent packet before the first day) for quick, curbside drop-off and pickup.

    • Or feel free to use parallel street parking and walk in for check in and out.

  • Tickets are $15 for general admission shows and slightly higher for dinner theatre productions.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at burchfieldtheatre.com/tickets once they become available — typically about four weeks before each show.

Seating is limited, so we encourage families to purchase early to ensure the best availability.
