Spring Shows - Afterschool
FAQ’s
-
Most after-school programs focus on supervision, snacks, and homework help. That’s important but we go further.
At Burchfield Theatre, we offer a structured, arts-rich experience led by specialized educators and professional performers. Every child is cast in a role and participates in daily theatre training — acting, singing, movement, tech, or design — while also receiving the emotional support and consistency they need after a long school day.
We don’t just keep kids busy. We help them grow.
Here’s what makes us different:
Every child is cast and actively involved, whether that’s backstage or centerstage
We teach and develop our kids, we don’t just supervise.
We support the whole child with structure, rest time, and emotional care.
Kids help build the show: stories, sets, props, and ideas included!
It’s a community, not just a class, where kids feel seen, safe, and proud of what they create.
It’s more than after-school care it’s a theatre home that builds confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.

Fall classes run from Mon, August 25 to Fri, December 12, 2025. Each program meets for 15 weeks, with options for 2–5 days per week depending on what best meets your families needs. Thanksgiving week is not included in the 15 weeks that tuition covers.
Please see our semester calendar for a detailed overview of our schedule.
When Hays CISD schools are closed, we offer full-day care for current fall students and their siblings. This is available to purchase on our website.
We will continue to hold afterschool classes for all closure dates besides 10/31.

Yes! Just give us 3 weeks’ notice. We will provide further instruction on how to request a change before classes start. We’ll do our best to accommodate any needed changes like adding, subtracting, or switching days, including adjusting monthly payment rates.

Yes! We often double-cast (and sometimes even triple-cast) our shows to give more children the chance to shine on stage and to ensure they get meaningful, developmentally appropriate performance experience.
All students are considered equally for casting, but attending at least two days per week is required to be eligible for an on-stage role. This ensures each child has enough rehearsal time to feel confident and prepared. Students who attend more frequently may have additional opportunities or responsibilities, but two days is the minimum to participate in the show.

All of our programs culminate in a fully staged musical or play, and every child is cast and celebrated, no matter their experience or confidence level.
If your child loves performing, we make sure they have space to shine. If they’re more interested in behind-the-scenes roles—like lighting, sound, costumes, or stage management—we offer a specialized tech curriculum and meaningful offstage opportunities.
We support each student’s unique interests and help them grow in the areas where they feel most inspired.
