Performances: December 11-13, 2026
Everyone’s heard of a haunted house. Probably even a haunted theater. But a haunted play? Could it be haunted by the spirit of a man who recently died at the theatre? No... it’s not possible! At least, that’s what theater director Bonnie Bagwell tries to convince the other members of the troupe as writer Colin Chambers hints at the trail of horror that has cursed his script, Ax of Murder. Unfortunately, curiosity gets the best of the actors and, despite Colin’s adamant warnings, they open the script and start reading the play. It soon becomes apparent the play is mirroring their theater and even the specific actors. ’The play changes with each performance,’ Colin intones, though he’s not taken seriously. But when a police sergeant shows up on cue stating he was called in on a murder, people begin to wonder. Wonder turns to fear when someone IS murdered onstage! And it seems as if no one could have done it. No body, that is, but perhaps a ghost. Your audiences won’t know who or what to believe. Characters show up in all areas of the theater, running down aisles and then disappearing. Murder weapons disappear and then show up in the worst of places. Beware the twists and turns of this play. You never know what will happen next when you see Ax of Murder.

At Burchfield Theatre, we offer a structured, arts-rich experience led by specialized educators and professional performers. Every child is cast in a role and participates in daily theatre training — acting, singing, movement, tech, or design — while also receiving the emotional support and consistency they need after a long school day.
We don’t just keep kids busy. We help them grow.

Spring Session Dates
Spring classes run Tuesday, January 6 – Friday, May 8, 2026. Each program meets for 17 weeks, with flexible options to attend 1–5 days per week based on your family’s needs.
Our final performances will take place the weekend of April 24–26. In the remaining weeks of the session, students will enjoy a fun summer preview, giving them a sneak peek at our upcoming summer camps. We may also hold a final showcase at the very end of the semester to celebrate the season and wrap things up together.
Breaks & Holidays
Spring Break week is not included in the 17 weeks of tuition. When Hays CISD schools are closed, we continue holding afterschool classes on all closure dates except Spring Break.
Performances
Our Spring session includes two productions.
Frozen Jr. will be performed March 27–29. After that show closes, students will begin rehearsals for our second Spring production, The Three Musketeers, which will be performed April 24–26. Auditions for The Three Musketeers take place on March 11, with rehearsals beginning March 30. One performance of The Three Musketeers will be presented as a Dinner Theatre, making it a fun and memorable experience for students and families.

We also offer full-day care on Hays CISD closure days for current students and their siblings — available for purchase on our website.

Yes! We’ll do our best to accommodate any needed changes like adding, subtracting, or switching days, including adjusting monthly payment rates.

We often double-cast (and sometimes even triple-cast) our shows to give more children the chance to shine on stage and gain meaningful, developmentally appropriate performance experience.
All students are considered equally for casting. However, attending at least two days per week is required to be eligible for a larger speaking or featured role. This helps ensure every child has enough rehearsal time to feel confident and prepared.
Students who attend more frequently may be offered additional opportunities or responsibilities, while those attending one day per week (Kindergarten only) will enjoy a wonderful ensemble experience and still be part of the performance.

Yes! We offer after-school pickup from select local schools. You can sign up for transportation on your enrollment paperwork and view all schools and rates here.

All of our programs culminate in a fully staged musical or play, and every child is cast and celebrated, no matter their experience or confidence level.
If your child loves performing, we make sure they have space to shine. If they’re more interested in behind-the-scenes roles—like lighting, sound, costumes, or stage management—we offer a specialized tech curriculum and meaningful offstage opportunities.
We support each student’s unique interests and help them grow in the areas where they feel most inspired.

We understand life happens! Occasional absences are fine. We just ask for notice ASAP so we can plan accordingly! For extended illnesses, we may offer partial credit with a doctor’s note.

After you submit your registration form with your deposit, you’ll receive a separate link through email to set up your monthly subscription.
All you need to do is add a credit or debit card and save it on file—that’s the card we’ll use to process your monthly tuition.

Families who pay tuition in full (instead of using a monthly plan) receive $50 off tuition.
Just choose the “Pay in Full” option when enrolling.

Sibling Discount – 8% Off Each Additional Child
Families enrolling more than one child receive 8% off tuition for each additional student, after the first full-priced child.
Can be combined with the Pay in Full discount.
Cannot be combined with the military or teacher discount for the same child.
Military Discount – $50 Off Tuition
Available for active-duty families with valid ID.
Can be combined with the Pay in Full discount.
Cannot be combined with the sibling or teacher discount for the same child.

Available for full-time K–12 educators with proof of employment.

Transportation requires advance planning and a 1-month minimum commitment.
If you opt into transportation, your route will be reserved and charged beginning Jan 1, and we cannot offer a trial period for this service.

Yes. Each performance is a full-scale production with costumes, sets, lighting, and live sound — just like a real show! Families, friends, and community members are invited to attend, and tickets help cover production costs such as licensing, materials, and technical equipment.
Ticket links will be shared closer to performance dates, and students do not need a ticket for the show(s) they are performing in.
We have also secured streaming rights for our production of Frozen Jr. and will offer a ticketed streaming option for families who are unable to attend in person. Streaming tickets will be available for purchase through our ticketing platform closer to the performance dates.

How Payment Works
Deposit: A $250 deposit (Supernova, Youngbloods) or $275 (Ready for the World Ages 13+) is required at checkout to reserve your child’s spot. This deposit applies toward tuition but is non-refundable.
Registration Form & Discounts: Before paying your deposit, you’ll complete a short registration form where you’ll indicate sibling, teacher, and/or military discount eligibility. Any approved discounts are applied to the remaining tuition balance (not the deposit) and will be reflected on your follow-up invoice.
Follow-Up Invoice: After you submit your deposit and registration form, you’ll receive a follow-up invoice confirming your program selections and allowing you to add a valid payment method to complete enrollment.
Payment Options (Due September 1):
Pay in Full: Pay the deposit at sign-up and pay the remaining balance in one payment by September 1 and receive a $50 discount on tuition.
In-House Monthly Plan: Pay the first monthly installment on September 1. Remaining payments will be billed automatically on October 1, November 1, and December 1 through your saved card.
Withdrawals: Families may withdraw any time before September 1 for a full refund minus the $250 deposit. After September 1, all payments are locked in for the session.
Transportation (if selected): Transportation is billed separately as its own Square subscription and charged on the same dates listed above.

Most importantly, my daughter LOVED this camp. She was sad when her time there came to an end and would never want to leave at the end of the day. I found the owner and staff extremely pleasant and warm. Lastly, my daughter learned a lot about different arts. The camp gives kids opportunities to contribute to a theatrical production in whatever ways most interest them. My view is that kids (and adults) learn best when they have some choice and are interested.

I cannot say enough about Burchfield Educational Theatre! You feel like family as soon as you walk through the door. Angela has such a heart for children and a passion for everything that is theatre and marries the two together beautifully. The staff foster an environment that is structured yet flexible for children to learn and make mistakes.
