Ready for the World

Ages 12+ | Prior theatre training required

A pre-professional theatre program for teens ready to take their work to the next level — onstage or behind the scenes.

Build confidence, discipline, and real-world theatre skills in a supportive but challenging environment. Students rehearse and perform in a fully staged production while growing their artistic voice, leadership, and collaborative abilities.

Whether they’re passionate about acting, designing, stage management, or simply want to be part of something meaningful, this program helps young artists step into their own.

In Ready for the World, students will:

  • Rehearse and perform in fully staged productions

  • Explore acting, singing, dancing, or backstage roles

  • Build leadership, focus, and collaboration skills

  • Work with teachers & mentors in small-group settings

  • Experience a professional-style rehearsal environment

  • Receive individualized feedback and guidance

  • Train at least 3 days/week for group eligibility

Personalized Learning Paths

In this program, students aren’t just cast — they’re guided. During registration, each participant selects a primary focus area such as Acting, Directing, Tech Design, or Stage Management. These choices help us tailor their experience throughout the semester.

Students may specialize in a single area or explore multiple paths across the production process. Whether they’re assistant directing, running the light board, or tackling a lead role, our goal is to prepare them with skills, habits, and confidence they’ll carry into future auditions, productions, and creative projects beyond Burchfield.

Focus Areas May Include:

  • Acting for Stage (Scene work & monologues)

  • Musical Theatre (Voice, auditioning, solo & group)

  • Theatre Dance (Choreography & movement)

  • Lighting Design & Programming

  • Sound Engineering & Mixing

  • Costume Design & Sewing

  • Stage Makeup & Character Creation

  • Props, Sets, & Backstage Crew

These learning paths are flexible. We meet students where they are and help them grow into where they’re going.
